CHIN AUGMENTATION

Your chin serves an aesthetically vital purpose to ensure symmetrical and proportionate features. The size, shape and projection of your chin can influence how your other features are perceived in a positive or negative way. Your chin is made up of mostly bone and muscle, the bone structure is what we want to replicate and refine. By balancing out the chin proportions we can make the nose look smaller, the face look thinner and more harmonised overall.

Chin filler is an underrated treatment that most people don’t realise they could benefit from, it often goes unnoticed on individuals but plays a major role in front profile symmetry and side profile harmonisation.

Chin filler serves various purposes, depending on individual needs and goals.

1

Correcting Asymmetry

Many clients choose chin filler to correct asymmetry in the front profile, where one side of the chin may slope slightly, disrupting overall facial balance. Subtle adjustments with filler can restore symmetry and enhance facial harmony.

Enhancing Shape

It’s rare to have a perfectly rounded chin from the front profile—many people have a flatter shape that lacks definition. Chin filler can subtly enhance this by creating a softer, more feminine contour and smoothing out unwanted dents, such as the common genetic “butt chin.”

Adding Projection

Chin filler can add volume to a recessed chin, enhancing the side profile and creating better facial balance. By aligning the chin with the nose along the Ricketts line, we achieve a more feminine and proportionate look. This also subtly sharpens the jawline and can reduce the appearance of a double chin.

LONGEVITY

In my experience, chin filler tends to metabolise more slowly than other areas, especially with the dense filler we use, which typically lasts 18 months or more. Achieving your ideal shape may require a couple of sessions to build up the area, with occasional touch-ups to maintain results over time.

DOWNTIME

The most noticeable side effect after chin filler is a feeling of tightness or mild discomfort from the mentalis muscle being stretched, which is completely normal and usually subsides within 7 days. You might also see minor bruising for 3–5 days and minimal swelling. The filler takes up to 6 weeks to fully settle, during which time the chin may soften slightly and refine in shape.

PAIN

Chin filler is one of the most comfortable treatments, with pain rated around 2/10. Most clients describe the sensation more as pressure than a sharp pinch, making the experience very tolerable.
