Skin boosters are an advanced treatment that deeply hydrates, brightens, and improves skin texture, elasticity, and overall quality. Unlike topical hyaluronic acid, which can’t penetrate the deeper layers, skin boosters are injected directly into the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

WHAT CAUSES A DECLINE IN SKIN QUALITY?

The skin’s natural ability to produce hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin gradually declines due to a combination of biological and environmental factors. Aging, genetics, UV exposure, oxidative stress from smoking, and high-glycaemic diets (such as those high in sugar) all contribute to the breakdown of the dermal extracellular matrix.

A pivotal study by Varani et al. (2006) revealed that the aging of fibroblasts — the cells responsible for collagen production — significantly impairs the skin’s ability to regenerate, with this process beginning as early as our mid-20s. DOWNTIME

Skin booster treatments like Profhilo are generally gentle, with minimal downtime. Most clients can resume normal activities right after treatment with little to no visible side effects. Temporary bumps at the injection sites are common as the product settles, and mild redness may occur from the injections or numbing cream. Slight tenderness can last up to 24 hours. In rare cases, minor swelling or bruising may appear, but these effects are typically mild and resolve quickly.

PAIN

While not entirely painless, the treatment is generally rated 1/10 for discomfort—at most, it feels like a small scratch.

History of Keloid Scarring:

Individuals with a history of keloid scarring may experience abnormal healing or unwanted scarring.

Active Infection or Antibiotic Use:

If you have an active infection or are taking antibiotics, treatments should be postponed to avoid complications and further infection.

Allergies:

Those allergic to hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, adrenaline, or other anesthesia should refrain from skin booster treatments.

Autoimmune Conditions:
